ILA’s Guiding Questions: Guidelines for Leadership Education Programs,
an extensive collaborative effort among many stakeholders, offers a framework for program
development, redesign, and evaluation. This highly interactive workshop will
address the purposeful self-study assessment process of curricular and co-curricular
leadership programs on university and college campuses.
The workshop will introduce the leadership
program comprehensive self-study review process. Participants will
have an opportunity to address all five “Guiding Constructs” including program context,
conceptual framework, content, teaching/learning, and assessment/outcomes in their
individual programs. Additionally, participants will have an opportunity to complete a
"mini Guiding Questions program review" and hear from others who have already
completed self-study reviews utilizing the Guiding Questions.
Workshop attendees who are engaged in the field of leadership
education will find this workshop of tremendous value, and attendees from leadership
education programs undergoing major revisions or assessment will discover new
insights to advance their current programs. Key experts in the five “Guiding Constructs”
and self-study assessment will help facilitate the Pre-Conference session and
will then be
available throughout the conference to continue ongoing conversations that emerge from the workshop.
Attendees will have a better understanding of
- How to complete a purposeful self-study review.
- How to utilize the Guiding Questions in program assessments.
- Best practices in the field of Leadership Studies.
